Red Satellite Release

for Patty Paine
someone is always crafting something: an animal built for travel: retractable wings: rudder: engine room: and wheels: here you say love is the possibility of shapes: down a hallway and you are following ribboning lines: and you think about language: being fluid: flowing: here you say a language without love would surely die: someone is stitching fabric to a couch: one they have imagined: framed: cut from wood: here you say love is building a place where your friends can relax'”stay a while'”and talk

Red Satellite Release

for Sabrina Orah Mark
you say all I know is there is half a violin in my heart: and a red moon wearing an eclipse: somewhere the yellow sun is lagging on a towline: you let the satellite out of the box with the holes punched in the top: on the opposite side of the world: another you chews on her pencil: working out the geometry: the curves and angles of everything: like a strange surveyor on the side of the road: but the notepad holds no equations: a short love poem in the margins: you say there is nothing to be sad for: I still have music lessons to attend: and shadows are meant to be shed
