FWD: OSU Press/The Journal Award in Poetry and the ’09 Charles Wheeler Prize

September is the month! — Don’t forget to submit your manuscript for The Ohio State University Press/The Journal Award in Poetry and The 2009 Charles B. Wheeler Prize! You are welcome to submit your manuscript for the 2009 Ohio State University Press/The Journal Award during the month of September, 2008. Each year, The Ohio State University Press and The Journal, the literary magazine of The Ohio State University, assembles a readers’ committee of OSU poets and a final judge to select one full-length poetry manuscript for publication by OSU Press. The winner of this contest also receives The Charles B. Wheeler Prize, a $3,000 cash prize made possible by the generosity of the family of the late Professor Emeritus of the English Department. To qualify, manuscripts must be at least 48 typed pages of original poetry be postmarked during the month of September. Entries postmarked after September 30 will not be accepted. have two title pages: your name and other identifying information should appear on only one. As all identifying material is removed before manuscripts are passed to the Readers, your name should not appear anywhere in the body of the manuscript. Clear photocopies are acceptable. Manuscripts must be previously unpublished, but some or all of the poems in a collection may have appeared in periodicals, chapbooks, or anthologies. These publications must be identified on an acknowledgments page. Your manuscript should be accompanied by a nonrefundable handling fee of $25.00 (U.S. dollars) for each manuscript you submit. Check or money order should be payable to The Ohio State University. To receive confirmation that your manuscript has been received, please include a stamped, self-addressed postcard; to receive notification of Contest results, please include a stamped, self-addressed business envelope. OSU Press assumes no responsibility for lost or damaged manuscripts. Manuscripts cannot be returned. All entrants receive a one-year subscription (two issues) to The Journal, the literary magazine of The Ohio State University.
